Robert Burns (1759-1796) is a cultural icon and the national poet of Scotland. His songs are known the world over: it’s almost certain that you reading this will have heard ‘Auld Lang Syne’, if not many other compositions among his well-known verse. He is depicted here in his iconic late-eighteenth century outfit.
